D-BAT Mustang's - Stiegler 14U win 16U Championship
The boys ended their abbreviated Fall campaign in style, taking the big trophy home by winning Travel Sports Baseball's 16U Championship. Timely hitting, terrific pitching (Team ERA: 2.15), and the team's will to win contributed to the D-BAT Mustang's Championship run. All 3 Sunday games came down to the final at-bat with two requiring tie-breakers. The Championship game took 10 innings to decide as fans braved the cold front to enjoy a classic finish.

D-BAT Mustangs - Stiegler (2) Powerhouse Baseball (5)
The Mustangs looked sluggish in the 8AM opener and never
really put a charge together as they left left 6 runners on base.
Darius Hill (Jesuit) went 2-3 foreshadowing his team
leading tournament .538 BA. This would be the
team's only loss of the tournament.
D-BAT Mustangs - Stiegler (11) Texas
Roughriders (1)
The Mustangs
woke up from their slumber and were in charge the entire
way. Darius Hill (Jesuit), Alex Stiegler (TCA), Nick Skeffington (Arlington Martin), and
Trevor March (The Colony) each scored two runs. Kyle Muller (Jesuit) collected 2 RBIs. Christian Del Bosque
(Mesquite Poteet) got the win, effectively shutting down the Roughriders offense in the run rule shortened game.
D-BAT Mustangs - Stiegler (4) Texas Roughriders (3)
Darius Hill
(Jesuit) got the win in relief allowing only 1 hit over 4 2/3 innings. AJ Liu
(Plano East) gunned down a Roughrider attempting to advance on a deep fly to left at third base to stymie
a Roughriders rally early in the contest. Nick Skeffington (Arlington Martin) had 2 RBIs and a walk off
sacrifice fly in the tiebreaker inning, scoring Obi Obinwa (John Paul II) after Alex Stiegler (TCA) moved
him to 3rd base with a well executed sacrifice bunt. Stiegler also had a double and run scored.
D-BAT Mustangs - Stiegler (3) Texas Hurricanes (2)
Nick Skeffington (Arlington Martin) threw a complete game 4 hit gem to defeat a Hurricanes squad that had scored
17 runs in their earlier quarterfinal game. Obi Obinwa (John Paul II) had a double and a run scored.
Johnny Gonzalez (Wakeland) led off a tie ball game in the bottom of the last inning with a double to deep right field.
AJ Liu (Plano East), in an apparent sacrifice situation, bucked the odds with a walk off double as time expired to put
the Mustangs in the Championship game. Liu was 2-3 in this well pitched match up.
D-BAT Mustangs - Stiegler (8) Diabloz (7)
Obi Obinwa (John Paul II) pitched a masterful game to keep the Mustangs in it going to the
bottom of the 7th inning down 2-1. Obinwa allowed only 3 hits in 6 2/3 innings and no earned runs. Trevor March
(The Colony) came in to get the last out of the inning on 3 pitches. Easton Murrell (LCA) singled in the 3rd, was moved over
by Jackson Noakes (TCA) and scored on a FC to account for the Mustang's only run. Johnny Gonzalez (Wakeland) led off
the bottom of the 7th with a sharp single...deja vu, Josh Aguilar (Bishop Lynch) dropped a perfect bunt single down the 3rd
baseline, and with one out AJ Liu (Plano East) changed it up with a perfect sacrifice bunt to send this one to another
tie-breaker that would take 3 innings to complete.
Darius Hill (Jesuit) launched a bases clearing triple to the right field fence, against a fierce wind, to tie the game again in the 10th inning. Alex Stiegler (TCA) bunted him home to seal the victory on the very next pitch. Christian Del Bosque (Mesquite Poteet) got the win allowing only two hits over 3 innings, pitching in the difficult tie-breaker format.
